Main tasks would include : • taking readings, using a laptop or hand-held device connected to an engine's electronic control unit (found in newer vehicles) • checking/testing wiring and parts in heavy goods vehicles, passenger carrying vehicles & heavy plant machinery using portable instruments • using the readings to find faults
Location: - Located in Central Scotland, covering Scotland and Northern England.
• researching faults using manufacturers' circuit diagrams and specification manuals • repairing or replacing faulty parts • installation of CCTV systems to the bus and coach industry • re-testing the system to make sure everything is working correctly and safely (this may include road testing the vehicle) • filling out a repair sheet detailing the work you have done • knowledge of vehicle CAN ( control area networks)systems • electronic ignitions, alarms, immobilizers and tracking devices ideally preferred • electric windows, mirrors and seats, tow bar electrics and air-conditioning • customized LED or neon lighting kits, parking warning systems and reverse cameras
Requirements
You would also deal with in-car phones, TV, and audio and DVD players. You should specialize in light vehicles (cars, vans and motorcycles) or heavy vehicles (Lorries, buses and coaches). If you work for a motor manufacturer, you may work on one particular vehicle model. Main dealer experience would be an advantage. Must have driving license and be able to travel & if necessary stay for long periods away from home

Salary: £ 15-25 / hr (depends on experiences & skills)
